How We Work

Fractional Operators + Strategists

We work with founders and leadership team to fill gaps on your growth path by slotting into your team for short-term or long-term projects, depending on the need.

All engagements with us start with our getting close to your environment with an assessment of current capacity and opportunities.  We collaborate to create practical, tailored solutions that move your business forward.

Clarify

“If I had only one hour to solve a problem, I would spend 55 minutes defining the problem and five minutes solving it.”

— Albert Einstein

“A problem well defined is a problem half solved.”

Every engagement begins with clarity. Before we build, change, or accelerate anything, we work closely with you to ensure that we’re solving the right problem. Many consulting/advisory resources move quickly to fix symptoms rather than causes—especially when under pressure. Our role in this first phase is to slow things down just enough to see clearly, and then move decisively in the right direction.

Our Focus
Clarify is about understanding the true nature of the challenge—what’s really happening beneath the surface. We look at available relevant data on trajectory, time alignment, customer behavior, and organizational assumptions to help you uncover any places in your organizations where effort and outcomes are misaligned. We bring to bear formal Six Sigma process tools like the Ishikawa (fishbone) diagram, mapping workflows, or running short diagnostic sessions with your team. And we’ll listen very carefully, asking the right questions, and helping the team see patterns in what’s already known.

Example
One client faced declining sales, and wanted to move fast on perceived weak service delivery. Their instinct was to invest heavily in improving customer support operations. Through our analysis of service delivery, team bandwidth, sales trends, product mix, and market position, we discovered that the most important issue wasn’t delivery—and that focusing on this was preventing the company from responding to shifts in their market with new product offerings.

By reframing the problem, the leadership team realized they had been fighting a losing battle—pouring more time and resources into an area that could never reverse the broader decline. The real opportunity was to rethink the business model entirely: reduce the operational lift of legacy products, refocus resources on scalable offerings, and realign priorities with the company’s long-term growth thesis. Within months, investor confidence significantly improved, even as the business continued to face near-term headwinds, because the team had begun focusing on development that could fundamentally improve the business’s leverage and operating model.

How We Work
While every engagement is different, the pattern is consistent.

Clarify isn’t a long processit’s a focused one. It ensures that when we act, we’re acting on what truly drives results—not just what’s most visible or urgent.

ALIGN

The Align phase is where the real work happens—the part that moves the needle for your business. Once we’ve clarified the root issues and defined the real problem, this is where we dig in together to solve it.

In Align, we turn insight into action. Our work focuses on building the structures, systems, and behaviors that drive measurable improvement—whether that means refining an operating model, rethinking a go-to-market strategy, or developing new management rhythms that turn plans into momentum.

We call this stage Align because that’s the essence of what we do here: ensure that whatever emerges from our collaboration is understood, adopted, and owned across your organization. A great strategy that lives in a deck isn’t success; success is when your entire leadership team—and the teams beneath them—are pulling in the same direction.

This phase might take different forms depending on your needs:

“Align” combines:

We don’t hand off binders of ideas. We build alignment, momentum, and a clear path forward—so your team not only knows what to do next, but does it together.

Accelerate

In Accelerate, the focus shifts from planning to execution. This is where we stay alongside you and your team to ensure that the work we’ve done together translates into tangible results.

Whether we’re helping implement new operating rhythms, supporting a leadership transition, or overseeing rollout of a refined go-to-market strategy, our goal is simple: to make sure the plan we’ve built together gains traction and delivers the outcomes you expect.

We stay close during this phase—through regular check-ins, milestone reviews, or targeted support sessions—to help you navigate what’s next and keep momentum high. The aim isn’t just to finish the project, but to make sure the organization is truly moving faster and more effectively than before.
